African Djembe Drums

|
The African Djembe Drum is one of Africa's traditional craftmanship. This drum has been used during celebrations such as weddings, births or during special days of high significanse in the African culture. The Djembe is made out of wood, goat skin, metal rings and very strong tension cord. The body of the drum is made out of one piece of wood, hand carved to form its shape. The type of wood used is usually Mahagony or Jungraide African wood. The Djembe is usually sized by measuring the diameter of its top part that is covered with the goat skin, such as 6", 8", 10" and all the way up to 20". Larger Djembes produce a variety of low and high tones than smaller ones. But not to forget large Djembes weigh a lot more than smaller ones. A 14" Djembe can weigh up the 25lb. Notice: Because the Djembe is totally made by hand and only primitive hand tools are used, not one drum is alike the other. Due to that reason, please realize that measurments, carvings, designs, finish, paint and sound are not always accurate. (903) 360-6566 |
